Kwame Debrah Kissi was born on 13th February 1954 in Nkawkaw to Richard Ampadu Kissi, a teacher and Seventh-day Adventist Church missionary, and Agnes Owusua Kissi, also a teacher. Growing up in a disciplined Christian home, Kwame was raised with strong values that emphasized faith, integrity, and dedication to education. His parents instilled in him the importance of studying hard and living a life guided by Christian principles.

From an early age, Kwame also displayed a keen sense of entrepreneurship. Even as a young boy, he was always looking for ways to make money and create opportunities for himself, showing a natural drive for initiative and self-reliance. This early business-mindedness would later become one of the defining traits of his character.

Kwame grew up alongside his siblings Kwabena Osafo Kissi, Kwame Asiedu Kissi, the late Joana Anima Kissi, and Linda Serwah, in an environment that valued learning and personal growth. He attended Manya Krobo Secondary School before continuing his education at the Presbyterian Training College in Akropong, where he further developed the discipline and leadership qualities that would shape his future.

His cousins include Kwaku Ameyaw Kissi, Felicia Kissi, Yaa Akyea Kissi, Kofi Boadu Kissi, Kwabena Buabeng Kissi, Emma Goodhead Kissi, and Adwoa Agyei Kissi.

Kwame Debrah Kissi met and fell in love with Constance Atuobi in Nkawkaw, beginning a partnership built on love, commitment, and shared values. Their union was blessed with four children Ampadu Debrah Kissi, Ameyaw Kissi Debrah, Nelly Owusua Debrah, and Atuobi Debrah Kissi, whom they raised with the same strong family and moral principles that shaped their own lives.

Family remained at the center of Kwame’s life, and his relationship with Constance stood as a testament to enduring love and companionship. In 2004, just before turning 50, Kwame reaffirmed that commitment by renewing his marriage vows to Constance in a special ceremony held in Accra. The occasion, witnessed by family and close friends, was a heartfelt celebration of their journey together and the life they had built as partners and parents.

Kwame Debrah Kissi’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to seek opportunities beyond Ghana at a young age. Determined to create a better future, he travelled abroad in pursuit of greener pastures, spending time in Germany and the United Kingdom where he hustled and gained valuable life and business experience. These formative years shaped his resilience, broadened his perspective, and strengthened his determination to succeed.

When he returned to Ghana, he co-managed a small leather and shoe enterprise, DannyDebs, alongside his business partner, Mr. Daniel Odame Koranteng, in Adabraka, Accra. Through foresight and hard work, he steadily expanded his entrepreneurial footprint, going on to establish and lead ventures such as Payless Travel & Tours and Asti Agencies Ltd.

Never one to rest on past achievements, Mr. Kissi remained deeply committed to growth and innovation throughout his life. Even in his later years, he continued to pursue new ideas and opportunities. At the time of his passing, he was actively working toward the establishment of Payless Pharmacy, a vision that reflected his enduring belief in service, enterprise, and progress.

Kwame Debrah Kissi’s passing on January 26, 2006, came as a profound shock to all who knew and loved him. On that fateful day, he returned home appearing well and in good spirits, mentioning only a mild headache. Later that night, however, he suffered a sudden heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. Despite the efforts made to save him, he peacefully passed away, leaving his family, friends, and associates in deep sorrow.

His sudden departure created a great void in the lives of many who had come to admire his strength, generosity, and entrepreneurial spirit. Yet, even in grief, those who knew him found comfort in the lasting legacy of his life—one defined by hard work, faith, and an unwavering commitment to family and progress.

Kwame Debrah Kissi was laid to rest at the Osu Cemetery on March 11, 2006, in a solemn ceremony attended by family, friends, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate and honor a life well lived.

His influence reached far beyond Ghana, touching lives both at home and across the world.

He is lovingly remembered by his widow, Mrs. Constance Debrah; his cherished children: Ampadu Debrah Kissi, Ameyaw Kissi Debrah, Nelly Owusua Debrah, and Atuobi Debrah Kissi; his siblings: Kwabena Osafo Kissi, Kwame Asiedu Kissi, the late Joana Anima Kissi, and Linda Serwah; and his cousins:Kwaku Ameyaw Kissi, Felicia Kissi, Yaa Akyea Kissi, Kofi Boadu Kissi, Kwabena Buabeng Kissi, Emma Goodhead Kissi, and Adwoa Agyei Kissi.

He is also fondly remembered by his extended family, business associates, the staff of Payless Travel & Tours, DannyDebs Company Ltd., Asti Agencies Ltd., cherished friends in Adabraka, and friends and sympathisers across the globe.

Though his time with us was cut short, the legacy of Mr. Kwame Debrah Kissi endures, in the institutions he built, the lives he uplifted, and the values of diligence, humility, and generosity he exemplified.
