Musical Beginnings

While at Juaben Senior High, he became choir leader and composed the song “Lumba Lumba” (which later inspired his stage name), and formed the original Lumba Brothers group.

Move to Germany

With the help of Theresa, his high school girlfriend, he relocates to Germany in search of better opportunities. There, he meets Nana Acheampong, and together they revive the “Lumba Brothers” name and recorded Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu (released in 1989).

Solo debut album

Illness and Death of Daddy Lumba

An official statement from Daddy Lumba’s family confirmed his passing. On the morning of July 26, 2025, the legendary musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, died at the age of 60 at The Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra, following a brief illness that was not publicly disclosed. In an interview with Joy FM, fellow artist King Promise revealed that he and Daddy Lumba had been working on a collaborative album in the two months leading up to his death.
