Education And Career

She had an early formal education at the Future Leaders Preparatory School at Butumagyebu, a suburb of Sekondi.

Her father, now a retired educator, moved her to the Boundary Road Methodist Primary School in Sondi, where he was then teaching and later became the substantive Headmaster of the school.

After Primary six, Christiana continued her formal education at Bethel Methodist Junior Secondary School (now Bethel Junior High School) at Takoradi. She sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination and chalked up good grades that enabled her to gain admission to the Archbishop Porter Girls' Secondary School, Takoradi.

On the completion of Archbishop Porter Girls' Secondary School, she further continued a course of study at the Takoradi Polytechnic (now Takoradi Technical University). She served a one-year mandatory National Service at Oda Kutuenso near Asankrangwa after her graduation from the then Takoradi Polytechnic.

She secured a teaching appointment with the Ghana Education Service (GES) as a pupil teacher. That took her to Hotopo Methodist Primary School in the Ahanta West District.

In her quest to be trained as a professional teacher, she went to Winneba University of Education to do a B.Ed. in Guidance and Counselling.

Coming out with flying colours, Christiana was posted to Kojokrom Methodist Nursery / Primary School, where she had remained until her untimely death on 12th September, 2025.

Devotion To God

On Saturday, 10th December 2016, the world witnessed Christie and Edwin Billy Oppong "tying the knot" in marriage. Out of that consummation, the good Lord has blessed the family with four (4) lovely kids - Jaden, Pearl, Nicole, and Eliora, a nine-month baby girl.

Born, baptized, and nurtured into Methodism, she diligently and faithfully served as a member of the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) and once held an office as a Circuit Treasurer. She was also a committed Sunday School teacher at the Ebenezer Chapel, Ketan Society, and subsequently, the Aldersgate Chapel, Butumagyebu Society of the Methodist Church, Ghana, until after marriage, when she deemed it convenient to worship together with her husband in the latter's church (Wisdom Chapel, Mempeasem)

A Life Well Lived

That, in a nutshell, is the chronicle of the life and times of Naa Norley, whom we are celebrating today. Indeed, the family is passing through moments of perplexity following our daughter's untimely death.

However, we take consolation from the apostle Paul for the demonstration of his great faith in the living God.

We learn from 2 Corinthians 5 :6-8 that the apostle was not afraid to die because he was confident of spending eternity with Christ.

Naturally, facing the unknown may cause us anxi ty, and leaving loved ones, like what we have had with Naa Norley, hurts deeply, but if we believe in Jesus Christ, we can share Paul's hope and confidence of eternal life with Christ, for death is only a prelude to eternal life with God.

Based upon the circumstances of life, we have no clue or guarantee of even if we base it on a 70-year life span.

Simply put, life cannot be predicted in view of current happenings or events. Thus, since we have no guarantee of tomorrow, we should treasure each hour as a jewel of great value and use it to the best advantage and pray as the psalmist: "Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered - how fleeting my life is". (Psalm 39:4; 90: 12).
